This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come mostly from low-income, single-parent households. Some of these households have more than one family living under one roof. Because of these disadvantages, I try to make sure each student takes advantage of the knowledge they gain from each and everyday of class. A lot of the students I teach are below grade level and are struggling readers. It causes issues in the classroom when you have twenty-five percent of the class on grade level and the other seventy-five percent below.
My Project
As stated in another project, I recently I began the Success Saturday Mathematics Academy in my school district for grades 3-6. It has truly been a blessing to help students boost their math skills. However, we are in desperate need for the basic necessities in order for this program to be successful. The students will use the pencils and notebook paper so that they can easily compute math problems correctly. The electric pencil sharpener will also help sharpen those pencils to sharpen those math skill.
Having the necessary supplies allows students to be successful in the Saturday Math Academy learning process.
Without the correct school supplies, children can have a hard time staying up on their lessons and keeping pace with the rest of the class. School is a place, which creates a base of every student to fight against the odds of life. Any shortage in school supplies can affect the strength of this base. In order for the Academy to maintain success, we desperately need these basic supplies.
