Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In an area where the harsh realities of poverty are quite common, I want our classroom to be a safe spot. I want our classroom to be home. This is not my space, this space belongs to the students and it should show that in every aspect of the room.
Together, we're working to create not just a classroom, but the family that my students need now more than ever.
With uncertain times upon us, "school" still needs to be a safe space for children who are being educated in the classroom or at home. Our daily routines and practices help create the structured environment that children thrive in--wherever they are.
Many of my students have parents that are considered essential workers. Whether they are cashiers, janitors, nurses, or aides they are performing essential services to our community. Families, who were already having trouble making ends meet, have been pushed to their financial edge with added costs of childcare or hours at work simply being shortened. My families, who have stepped up and helped the community in their time of need, now need your help.
My Project
Did you know that it can take upwards of 1 hour to create a 5 minute interactive virtual lesson? Now imagine creating interactive lessons for 8 periods each day on various levels! Gosh! One week's work can take a lifetime.
My students love playing games on Google and Boom Cards, and while I enjoy making them, I do not have the fonts, characters, or hours in the day to create them all by myself.
This is why I am asking for a Teachers Pay Teacher gift card to buy lessons, games, and font packs that can be used on Boom Cards and Google Apps.
