This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Education is my passion! I have always believed that every student can be successful, and as a teacher, I believe my responsibility lies in creating an environment where students can succeed. My 2nd-grade class includes students from many parts of the world: Brazil, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Colombia. Most of my students are English language learners and we have learned that acquiring a second language while learning new content can be a fun experience. In our class, our motto is: "We are determined students - we work hard, we try our best, and we never give up!"

My Project

Our school district is going back to our buildings in full capacity this fall. I will have around 20 students in my classroom so I need to create a clean, safe, and healthy environment for these children. For example, I want to make sure that I will have enough hand sanitizer for my students and plastic pouches where they can keep their school supplies in order to avoid the spread of germs.

Public schools need your compassion and generosity more than ever; please help teachers to ensure that students and other staff will stay safe in a pandemic era.

Being back to school this year will bring new challenges for teachers. Besides making sure students have the school supplies to accomplish educational activities, we need to stock our classrooms with disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizers, face masks, and other creative strategies to keep COVID-19 out of our rooms.

Most of my students live in multi-generational households with parents/guardians who have jobs that force them to be out in public. These children are at high risk of catching the virus compared to those whose parents work from home and do not live in crowded homes.

Please help our students and teachers to stay healthy. Your kindness will make a huge difference!
