My Students

My students are from grades 9 through 12. They are taking my classes to learn about coding. Many of them are in the Project Lead the Way program, Intro to Computer Science Essentials, Computer Principals and Cybersecurity. I also have students who take my digital media classes such as animation or game design. They love working with a variety of devices, software and programming languages. They really enjoyed working with Samsung and getting an opportunity to get their ideas heard.

My Project

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Competition. Students are coding an mobile app to implement at the early grade levels first and transition to older students after. This program will be used to develop healthy habits with students and to give them an outlet if needed with school and emotional issues. It will have many features built into it, like resources for bullying and dealing with anxiety and more. How to be positive and guide to being organized, a link to talk with a school counselor and much more. Why an app for emotional and mental wellness you might think? For school safety, since many school shootings are done by a student currently enrolled in that school. This school shooter is someone who is rebelling or angry about something that made them mad at the school. So it is important that we find ways to prevent the students from getting to that point.
