The science lab begins first with teaching the value of safety in the science lab. The lab has materials that cannot be used due the lack of safety equipment needed to perform the experiment. The students need safety goggles, gloves and an apron to begin. With the proper safety we can perform experiments and keep the students safe through the explorations. The science lab is an extension of the science curriculum that students do only hands on learning. They will use the safety equipment to do experiments. They conduct experiments for a forty minute period each week. I have the wonderful opportunity of seeing the entire student body in the lab. Grades one through fifth will come for a forty-minute period to work on their experiments. Before school we have a science fair club for students interested in competing in the state science fair. They will also use the safety equipment to prepare their experiments. After school, we have the science club. The science club is a group of students that have an interest in helping create projects that benefit our school. They use the safety goggles and gloves helping to keep the different gardens clean and growing. The only time the safety equipment will not be lunchtime. The equipment is a very important part of the students able to participate in the science lab at all levels of learning.
