Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are motivated and excited to learn. They enjoy learning and using technology in class knowing that it is something that will help them in both college and their career.

Although many excel, some are held back due to lack of resources at home.

Nearly all my students are from low-income families. They don't have the resources at home to do their work. Not having a computer or internet service hinders their ability to work in this distance learning environment. I want to make sure that all of the students are limited only by their creativity, imagination and their own hard work.

My Project

As students begin to return to the classroom it is critical they they are safe and that we do our best to minimize their risk to COVID-19. My classroom is a computer classroom. Students share the computer with others on campus.

In order to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, I require students to use hand sanitizer when they enter the classroom.

I also wipe down the computer keyboards and desks that were used as students exit. This means that I go through a lot of hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes.

As a Title I school, our resources were stretched before the pandemic. Providing these necessary supplies will not only help my class, but will also free up resources that would be used in my class to help the entire school.
