This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am thrilled to have the honor of teaching math and science to an incredible group of 6th graders! These are my two favorite subjects and I just love this age group!

Our school has a spectacular staff and incredible community support!

Even though we are located in a low socioeconomic area, it is clear that parents want the best for their children by their active involvement. My students face many daily challenges, but they always come to school with dazzling smiles, ready to have fun learning!

My Project

I already have an amazing classroom thanks to DonorsChoose, but I would love to make it even better! We really need blinds for our windows. Recently, we had to lock down the campus and I realized that we need blinds to keep us safer! The way my room is set up, there is no where to hide that can not be seen from a window. With mini blinds, I could just shut them and no one would be able to see in. Additionally, it will help my students see the television much better when we are playing Classroom Jeopardy or watching an instructional video.

My students also need a few new other odds and ends.

We need new hall passes as ours are ready for retirement! At middle school, students are required to have a hall pass if they are out of the classroom. With over 70 kids in and out of my room daily, they get quite the workout! Next, we need building plates for Legos during STEM challenges. My students love to build things and these would help them get the creative juices flowing. Finally, I am requesting geyser tubes for a fun-filled science day the last week of school! They will learn about nucleation sites on Mentos and why they make an amazing soda fountain!
