Help me give my students the ability to learn remotely. A new laptop is needed to supply the technology and connect with my students as they learn from home.
My students are from many different cultures, races, backgrounds and beliefs. They want to be able to complete work that will show off their abilities and talents. I teach in a Title 1 school with more than 75% of the students coming from low income families. We have limited resources. I have 25 students (yes, we are at capacity) and I have to be able to teach them virtually. My class is 100% virtual. They are all on their computers and laptops at home while I am teaching from school.
My Project
Connecting remotely is a priority in the classroom this year. I am a remote teacher for 25 2nd graders in a Title 1 school. I need to have dependable connections and a functioning laptop to accomplish this task.
We currently have a small 13" laptop which does not allow me to view all of my students on the screen at the same time.
A new laptop will allow my students to connect to websites that involve reading, writing, math, science and social studies. It will allow my students to connect to our Envision Math program and Teachers College units of study in Reading, Phonics and Writing videos which are available on line for the students to view. It will also allow me to be able to see all the students and connect with them quickly and efficiently. I need to focus on teaching the content and not worrying that the technology isn't going to work. These students are depending on me and my ability to teach them remotely.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
