Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are 7 and 8-year-olds, and they are full of life! My students love to discuss, collaborate, and problem solve. They work very hard and they love to learn. In classrooms of today, students are learning more than reading, math, and writing.

Students need to learn to emotionally regulate to be successful students and citizens.

Our students come to us with various needs and abilities. Students need to learn about emotions, and they need to be explicitly taught the tools and ways to recognize and manage their emotions. This is important not just for the classroom but in the world as a whole. Using the SEL books about calmness, emotional regulation, and the toys used for calmness, my students will learn and practice these skills.

My school is in a large, urban district, and we have a high poverty rate. My school is currently not a Title I-funded school, and so any needed supplies come from our PTC or are paid out of pocket.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
