Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students range from Freshmen through Seniors, all with learning disabilities and dyslexia, who read at no higher than a 3rd-grade level. They require multi-modes of input to learn. They are part of a multi-sensory reading program, which is a highly structured program using many styles of learning in a self-contained setting to provide intensive supports in a small group setting.

Our school is a neighborhood school located in a high poverty and high COVID area.

Students have been attending school remotely since the beginning of the school year. They have daily face-to-face virtual meetings for all of their classes. They are beginning to return to in-person learning and they are feeling overwhelmed.

Students have gone through so many emotional ups and downs this year. It has been a very stressful and difficult year for them, but they are resilient. I want to provide them with resources that can support their feelings of stress.

My Project

The Brita Water Bottles and filters will help to ease students' minds about the availability of water. Students can have their own reusable water bottle they bring to school every day.

Due to COVID and safety regulations, the water fountains at the school have been closed, but the bottle filling stations will remain open.

In order to have access to water at the school, you must have a water bottle. This is an added expense for families. These water bottles and filters will help families with one less expense during these difficult times.

The water bottles will be useful for students in and out of school as they can use them anywhere they go to know they will have clean water. Thank you in advance for your support.
