Help give my students a mental health break! The stress of high school is heavy. I want to give my students a safe space to come and recharge! It's important to me that these students, with special needs, feel like they can come and be as they are. Come into an environment to pick what helps them learn best, can unmask, feel comfortable, and most of all feel safe.
Instead of hard chairs and desks, I would use softer/moveable chairs like wobble chairs or bean bags.
Instead of harsh fluorescent lighting, I would use different ways of lighting like the natural sun lightbulbs. These are some of the ways that I can make this work for my students. Less stress, less overstimulation, more cozy, loving, and successful!
