Safe and Stable Learning Environment for Struggling Readers

My Students

My school is part of a new reading intervention program that includes a phonics-based program, a reading interventionist, and aides. My aides and I work with about 115 first-third grade students who are most at risk in learning to read. My students are eager to learn and are also those who struggle the most in learning to read. Reading is difficult for them and I want them to experience success and find joy in reading and learning. These students need to learn at a faster rate than their peers in order to close the gap in their learning. We are a large school with many needs.

My Project

These masks, sanitizer, and cleaning supplies will hopefully help us all stay healthy in the classroom so that we can continue learning without interruptions of illness. The easels, pocket charts, markers, calculators, whiteboards, and timers will allow me to set up teaching stations for myself and each of my five aides so that we are ready to teach our 110+ reading intervention students foundational phonological awareness and phonics skills without having to share materials and move materials from place to place between each group rotation. This will save valuable instructional minutes and provide a more permanent space for each instructor and each group of students.
