Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a physical education teacher and coach at an inner-city, urban school district, it can be difficult to find new activities for students to try. Each semester, combined with my co-teachers, we teach approximately 300 students. Many of the students in our school are used to doing the same types of sports and physical activities every year. They also do not have as many safe areas to visit to try new activities when they go home or throughout the summer months.
To ensure that equipment is properly stored after being disinfected and help slow any transmission of illnesses during this new normal, having secure places to store equipment is extremely important.
By purchasing locking storage containers and locks for them, we can make sure equipment that is cleaned is not used after sanitation.
My Project
Donations that are given to my SAFE and SECURE project will go towards the efforts of keeping equipment clean after using the equipment for an after school basketball club, that helps prepare students for upcoming basketball tryouts. This will allow only those in the club to use the equipment after school!
The ball cages will be used to store equipment after it has been sanitized so that it can air dry and the locks will be used to ensure that no one has access to use the equipment when it is not supposed to be used.
Every donation helps us create a SAFER and more SECURE environment for the students to adapt to the new normal we have to work with as well as maintain some level of normalcy from before by allowing equipment to be used for some activities!
