Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently work at a tech high school in the Bronx and we are in need of some classroom supplies to ensure the upcoming school year is a safe one. Our students in the Bronx deserve to have safe and clean classrooms and spaces to learn - and you can help!
Our students have been pushing themselves tirelessly over the past few months when it came to remote learning and now they are ready to enter the school building again.
They have continued to voice their opinions and have really come together as a community, stronger than ever before in light of the struggles their home communities have been facing. The majority of our students come from low-income families and many of them have suffered losses due to COVID-19. By supporting this project you will help us ensure their safety inside the school building and help us provide them with safe learning environments.
As my co-teachers and I re-imagine our classroom and educational campus to facilitate learning and support our students amid this global pandemic, we have highlighted some essential practices and supplies to promote cleanliness and maintain social distancing in the school community.
My Project
Every child deserves a place to learn where they feel seen and valued. By donating you will allow us to prepare a safe learning environment for our students. These items will give our students the opportunity to be in the building once again in clean and safe classrooms to ensure that their learning can continue.
Regardless of a student's circumstance or background, these essential materials will enable us to provide a safe learning environment for our diverse learners where each child can be successful.
Some of those items are:
★ Disinfectant materials to wipe down the classroom space every day after daily instruction to limit the spread of germs.
★ Pens/pencils, boards, charts, and markers for each student labeled with their individual names so that they do not need to borrow from neighbors or bring items back and forth from home.
★ Taped markers and plexiglass to direct and maintain social distancing to ensure everyone’s safety in the room.
★ Emergency supply of PPE for students who misplace/lose/destroy their masks, or gloves to make sure that everyone has access to learning in a safe space.
