We ended units where students presented to outside audiences, including speaking at City Hall to their local government, with bead making and art making. The students showed they are capable of being the face of a community action.\r\n\r\nThe Emotional \"Glow\": Pride and Purpose - The students' sense of success was deeply tied to human connection. \r\n\r\nStudents Loved: The Free Store, the Escape Room, and the student-led outreach. There was high student ownership and deep community connection. \r\n\r\nFulfillment of Mission: Students felt a profound sense of achievement seeing the \"vision fulfilled.\" Seeing visitors smile and bringing in community members who \"might not have come otherwise\" validated their hard work.\r\n\r\nDirect Impact: Success wasn't just a high attendance number; it was the specific moment a guest escaped the Escape Room and immediately began \"checking their own lease.\"\r\n\r\nPersonal Growth: Many students thrived in high-stakes roles—interviewing guests, speaking to the press, and guiding visitors. Every day, we start our class with a routine warm up that is always on a purple sheet. This sets the tone for the day. \r\n\r\nVery important concepts are always on blue sheets, where students know to collect information over the course of a unit of study and prepare for exams and assessments. \r\n\r\nFilm and text studies are on pink sheets and benchmarks and final assessments are on yellow sheets.\r\n\r\nOf course, students use regular paper between and manage their own learning in a variety of ways.
