Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember school providing an amazing sense of community and positivity? Well, that's what we are! We are a high school with a very diverse population, with a majority of Hispanic students in the Phoenix Metro area. Many of our students come from families who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My seniors are looking to gain academic skills, as well as prepare for their post-high school adventures!

In our social studies classes, we look to explore the world around us and how we can best contribute to a better world, which includes all students successfully graduating and being involved in their community.

All students come from a unique set of experiences, values, hopes, and dreams. We all work to support one another in becoming their best selves.

My Project

Many times students have so much going on that time is a very limited commodity. Many students are involved in school community life in a variety of ways--- whether it is athletics, student council, or any of the variety of clubs. Others are working their way through high school with full-time jobs where they may be contributing to their family's budget. And, there are still others who are really grinding to graduate on time with a overload of classes & full-time working commitments. In many situations, we need something to help sustain our efforts for learning. Sometimes, it is that forgetting to eat or just not having time for it. Other times, it is needing an extra source of energy to get the strength to keep moving in order to get everything done.

With these snacks, we will be able to get the nutrition we need when we are unable to eat or just need that extra burst of energy!

We have a section of our classroom to store our snacks when students need one. Having the ability to monitor their needs is a great skill to gain! Students can easily solve problems that are detracting from the learning abilities by simply having a quick snack!
