Running and Working to Win Every Race

My students need equipment to replace used and broken items so that they can better practice, win more races and make it to the State Finals.

My Students

My students are all Native Americans who want to retain the language and culture of their elders, but at the same time want to achieve every teenagers' goals and objectives.

They live on a large reservation in small villages scattered over many hundreds of acres of desert land.

Every morning four yellow, well-used buses leave our school and travel over 100 miles to visit these villages and pick up the students. Some are on the buses for more than two hours, but all arrive by 7:30 am for a breakfast and for the start of the school day.

My Project

Track and Field has not been offered as an extracurricular activity at our school for many years. We have not been able to find someone to replace the coach that left; however, this year, we found such a person. He inherited a program with a very limited budget and used and worn equipment. He does, however, have a group of students who are excited about this opportunity, regularly come to practices and enter every event available to them. The items chosen in this project will replace the most used or missing equipment used by our runners. The equipment in this project will help our runners improve their track and fields performance and even more important will raise the morale of the entire team. New equipment like a shot put toe board, discus markers, a starting block, running batons and a duffle bag will bring smiles and excitement to our runners. Please help us make all of this happen by supporting our project with a donation.
