My students need strength training equipment to enhance their workouts. Runners need a strong core and upper body muscles to improve and prevent injuries. The light weight dumbbells will allow our team to work on strength.
The athletes in our track program include individuals that come from low-income homes. Our student-athletes work hard training and competing in various events during the track season. Physical exercise is key to not only a healthy body but also a healthy brain.
The experience and connections that being part of a team will foster in our students can be lifelong.
Our team will focus on teamwork and building community during practices and while competing. Being a part of the team also gives students an opportunity, outside of the classroom, to set goals and make plans to reach those goals.
Our team has recently added strength training to their schedule and we have a lack of equipment to do many workouts. It would be great to add light weights to our body weight routines. The lightweight dumbbells will allow our girls to include some upper body routines and the medicine balls have a wide variety of core exercises. Having a strong core and upper body can help to improve your running form and muscles to avoid injury.
Without proper equipment, we are limited to strength training available.
