Our students are so energetic and love to learn! Music is sometimes the best part of the day! In our music classroom, students get to express themselves through singing, dancing, movement, listening, and playing instruments. Each one of my students has very different physical, academic, and social goals and abilities. Music is one part of our day that we love to come together, set aside all of those differences, and learn while we have fun singing and playing. Our school would love to be the proud owner of some new Tubano drums to further encourage energy, creativity, and a love for music in our classroom!
My Project
Music is an outlet for students to express themselves and create memorable experiences while doing so. In our classroom, we experience music through singing, instruments, reading and writing, movement, and listening. It is so important for instruments to be an accessible part of a music experience because it really opens up a whole new world for our students.
Playing drums allows students to dive into, and learn about rituals, religions, and cultures around the world.
Playing instruments also helps to enforce numerous benchmarks in music, including steady beat, reading and writing rhythms, and playing in an ensemble. All of these skills are necessary for students to become successful musicians, or just to develop an understanding and appreciation for music. Lastly, instruments in the classroom help to build self esteem as students have opportunities to play and perform in front of peers.
