My Students

My students are motivated, bright kids who deserve the best education, full of valuable experiences to help them succeed as learners.

At our school, we have a diverse population of students with various Autism Spectrum Disorders.

We service autistic and special education students through pullout, self-contained classrooms, and inclusion classrooms, depending upon the needs of each student. Our inner city school currently services over 600 students in preschool through grade 6. A high percentage of our students come from low income or non-working families.

My Project

This rug will help make a difference in my students' learning because it will give them their own space on the carpet. Throughout the school day, I have students come and sit on the carpet to listen to whole group, mini-lessons and to listen to me read aloud.

My students sometimes have a difficult time focusing on the carpet because they move around to different spots throughout the lesson or the read aloud.

This rug will help them to find a spot to stay in for the entire time that they are on the carpet for the lessons or the read aloud.
