My Students

My students and I need a classroom rug were we can join together in a comfortable, inviting and safe environment.

I teach at a low income school.

My students mostly live in Section 8 housing or apartments and come to school hungry and unstable. They love coming to school where they feel safe and know where their next meal is coming from. They take ownership in their education since it is the only thing they have to hold on to. Most of my students move around a lot and I would love for them to think that my classroom is a warm, stable environment for them.

My Project

I believe that by having a large classroom rug my students will enjoy coming together and building a classroom community. They will build relationships and take ownership of our classroom. Students love to be on the floor, whether they are at their "center", reading a book to themselves or a partner, or listening to be read a loud. Having a rug would make this more comfortable and inviting for them.

I love "Rug Time" and "Morning Meeting"!

My students literally jump out of their seats, push in their chairs and walk quickly to floor! They love our Morning Meeting, greeting one another and learning about the schedule for the day. They also enjoy coming together as a team. Having a cozy, inviting rug can help out our classroom immensely!
