Help me give my students a nice, new place to gather for morning meeting, circle time, read alouds, math whole group, and science lessons. The rug provided by our district are tattered, plain, and torn.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a diverse class of students. We love reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. We are an eager, enthusiastic, and hard working. We love to learn. In ELA, students are working to learn to identify the letters of the alphabet, the sounds letters make, read CVC words, sight words, rhyme, segment words, and identify parts of a book. In math , we learn to identify 2-D and 3-D shapes and describe them, count to 100 by 10's and 1's, identify numbers to 20, write numbers to 20, add and subtract, and place value.
My Project
We spend most of our day on the rug building our community, listening to stories, learning math, and getting hands on with science. As a kindergarten classroom, the rug area is the center of our classroom where we do most of our learning.
A new rug will provide each student their own place to sit during read alouds and circle time.
Our rug is a plain blue rug with visual spots for students. In years past I have used duct tape to create lines for the students, but the duct tape is peeling and torn. The rug us torn and tattered and always looks dirty.
