Rubik's Cubes for Extension Activities

My Students

My school is a Grades 5-8 middle school in the O. Public Schools. We are a magnet school with a focus on technology and communication.

The abilities of the classes are very diverse, so it is crucial that I have opportunities to reteach and enrich all of my students.

My class sizes vary from 20-32. One day, I noticed a student had a Rubik's cube, and I let him play with it after he was done with his homework. The next day, there were more Rubik's cubes out. I decided to embrace this interest by supplying Rubik's cubes as a challenge activity when they are finished with grade level content.

I received an order of cubes a few years ago, but they have been worn, broken, and lost. I would absolutely love to have more to give my students a non-traditional challenging activity. Thank you for considering us!

My Project

I teach groups of students with diverse needs. Rubik's cubes are something I have found that all students enjoy. I want to give them the opportunity to work with them as a challenging, fun activity when they are finished with their classwork. It is difficult to find hands-on activities that keep the students' interest, and I have found that Rubik's cubes do just the trick. They also really love that they are better at solving them than their teacher. Thank you for considering donating to our classroom! We appreciate you!
