Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my class, students are taught they are important, they are powerful and they have a voice, but all too often in classrooms students do not need they can be themselves and be creative while learning. My students come from hardships and deserve the best access to material as well as educational strategies, my goal is to utilize these resources to create access for my students to receive the best education possible. My students typically don't have people who believe in and invest in their success and by allowing our students to feel this support you are giving a group of students hope that not only I believe in them but others in the world believe in them and their potential.
My Project
Our students have started to create content but as we are a Title I school, we don't have access to some technology that would allow for students to take their pieces to the next level. Our students learn about print media (newspapers, magazines, etc), radio, TV and social media journalism.
By allowing students to gain access to technology, you will be giving students an opportunity to build a love and even possibly a career in journalism.
In the age of digital media, students will learn how to create content that will open a whole new world of opportunities to them, from joining the high school newspaper to even possibly earning a scholarship and securing a job in the field.
