My students face obstacles outside and inside the classroom daily, but my goal is to create a safe space where they are able to learn and find their truth. My students hear me tell them that they should be creative and learn to think for themselves but too often sit in rows of desk similar to students in the early days of education. My students in the inner city deserve access to flexible seating, which research shows is beneficial to their development. These chairs & clipboards I am requesting will go to help my students be able to be more collaborative, more creative and learn in a setting that is comfortable that will allow for deeper learning and special moments. Allowing students to be outside the tradition learning fashion will help facilitate our PBL learning goals as well as just creating a community feel in my classroom. The students and myself appreciate anything you can help us with as we move our classroom forward by building community and creating a safe space on campus for all students to find their voice, power and truth. We thank you in advance and look forward to you joining our classroom community through this effort.
