My Students

First grade is an exciting time for children as they learn how to read by the end of the year. Their excitement for learning is contagious, and they bring such positive energy into the classroom each day. That is just one of the many reasons why I love my first graders.

They learn to fall in love with reading at this young age.

When they see characters that remind them of themselves, they connect and relate to them. That excitement on their face through read alouds is pure joy.

My Project

Reading aloud to children is an essential part in developing their language, love for reading, and reading skills. The read alouds I am requesting are texts that will do all of those things and provide meaningful experiences for my students.

The materials for this project will be used every week to focus on a lesson, common core reading standard, vocabulary, and it will bring in non-fiction readers, too.

Students will work on comprehension and engage in meaningful tasks to support the reading growth and foster their love of reading. Good books with lessons and meaning should be read aloud to children every day. I want to give my students to enjoyment of diving into a variety of good books.
