My Project

My students learn from exploring their environment. Many of our learners are very self-directed and like to wander and find the specific activities they are interested in. I teach in a self-contained special education classroom with 12 students in grades K-4 with various disabilities. Establishing visual boundaries in our classroom will be essential to helping the rest of our school year and the year to be successful and run smoothly!

My students thrive when their expectations are clear and when they have visuals to reinforce those expectations.

One thing we have been struggling with lately has been staying in the specific learning space we are expected to be in throughout different times of the day. My goal for the rest of this year and the years to come is to start having 2 to 3 students in tiny groups that move to different center stations together throughout the day. These room dividers will help us visually split our classroom into clear learning spaces and help encourage our students to stay on task in the spaces they are expected to be in with their small group.
