My Project

Books are the backbone of any classroom. They can't do much good however, if you can't find them, or know what kinds of books are available. In my more than 3 decades in the classroom, I have a stunning and wide array of books, but most students don't know even an iota of what jewels exist in the dusty bins sitting on wooden shelves around the classroom.

The ability to stand and peruse the books on shelves as one does in a real library would tremendously impact my students' ability to get to the actual reading instead of just browsing.

Being able to organize by topic or author or title would speed up the process of finding a book for everyone, myself included. Having those shelves at appropriate levels for third graders and being on wheels....well, be still my heart, no aching backs AND easy storage for the summer break! No more lugging hundreds of pounds of books from shelf to close! A teacher can dream!

Please help my students and me as we look for more class reading time and easier access by donating to my project.
