Due to your support we received a iPad that we were able to use for our robot coding and for 3D printing. It was a great way to introduce my students to technology and project based learning. \r\nFirst, we used our Dash robots and a program called Blockly to learn about coding as well as math. The robots use the metric system and kids need to measure distance with centimeters. They needed to program their robots to follow a course throughout the classroom. Measurement as well as understanding angles was necessary to code the robot to follow the course. It was challenging and fun. \r\nSecond, we used our iPad to connect to our 3D printers. My class learned about 3D printing by using a program called Maker's Empire. They again had to measure using centimeters. They also needed to know about solid shapes. Once they created their projects the iPad was able to connect to our 3D printer using Polar Cloud. None of this would have been possible without your generosity and support. I believe that giving students multiple experiences and especially experiences that are hands-on. I found early in my career that if students enjoy doing something, they are more likely to learn. I love cooking (and eating) and I've passed that on to my students.\r\n\r\nI decided to teach my students about safe cooking materials. There is a lot on news about getting rid of black kitchen tools because of plastics and the toxicity in non-stick pans. For this project, I got an safe, enamel cast iron skillet. I taught the students that it isn't exactly true non-stick, but with practice and time, you can get it pretty close.\r\n\r\nWe made sunny side up eggs for our first try..
