My Project

As a teacher in a Title I school, I serve students who often face significant academic, emotional, and environmental challenges inside and outside the classroom. Many of my students struggle with sustained attention, self-regulartion, and the ability to remain seated/still for long periods of time, all of which major factors in their education.

A classroom set of rolling desks would alleviate all of those issues by providing students the ability to stand up and move without interrupting instruction.

While stationary desks suppress natural movement, rolling desks allow flexibility, providing students with attention difficulties the option to reposition or relocate. These desks will improve student focus and decrease behavioral issues for students with high levels of energy. These desks will also serve as equitable options, as all students who struggle sitting still will no longer be disadvantaged during lessons.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
