Rollerskis for Elementary Students of Military Families
My students need skiing equipment for participating in rollerskiing club after-school with teachers at our elementary school to practice skiing.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
Students at our elementary school are from military families that live near Anchorage, Alaska. Part of the physical education department's goals is to give students and their families experiences that are unique to Alaskan sports and culture. Typically, students stay at the school for two years before their family is transferred.
Students enjoy participating in after-school activities and our school is very lucky to be able to offer a rollerskiing program to cross-train and allow students to learn skiing technique in the spring and fall.
The teachers at our elementary school in Anchorage, Alaska are excited about sharing their love of cross country skiing with their students. In the months without snow, rollerskiing is a way that people train for the sport and we have access to great paved trails that allow students to be introduced to the sport in a safe and enjoyable setting.
The pair of rollerskis and bindings will allow students to try a lifetime sport in after-school programming offered for grades 2-6.
These students will have a distinct advantage when it comes to skiing on snow. Additionally, the balance and core strength required for rollerskiing translate well to other sports. The school currently has ten pair of rollerskis and are hoping to purchase one additional set to reach more students each year. The skis and bindings are durable goods that last about 10 years, so this equipment will benefit students many years in the future.
