My Project

In my classroom, silence doesn't mean absence. Most of the students in my classroom are nonverbal and everyday I watch them find their own ways to reach out - a hand placed gently on mine, a toy pushed across the table to me, eyes that light up when they feel connected. They are always communicating. I just need the right tools to help them do that. That's where play comes in.

For my students, a toy isn't just a toy - it's a bridge.

It's the space where a child who has never said "look at me" can hand me a dinosaur and watch my face for a reactions. It's where a child who struggles to sit still can find calm lining up farm animals or rainbow colored toys in a row. It's where "playing pretend" becomes real practice for real life - serving an ice cream cone, taking care of a pet, learning to take turns, to wait, to notice someone else's needs.

These toys aren't just materials for my classroom. They're invitations. Invitations to connect, to trust, to be understood. My students may not have the words yet, but with the right tools in their hands, they have everything they need to tell their story anyway.
