This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am teaching 3rd grade students with Autism this coming school year and will continue supporting 4th, 5th, and 6th grade self-contained special education students. The students I will support have multiple disabilities including Severe Emotional Disturbance and Behavioral Disorders. They need hands-on, interactive learning. I want to offer them the most engaging classroom so that they will be unstoppable while achieving their goals in my class! These students need to nurture their creative spirits with hands-on activities. I want to provide cross-curricular instruction and your support will go a long way in achieving our goals!
My Project
My students have Autism and often rock to cope with their stress. Regular wood rocking chairs wear out quickly due to their heavy use.
These rockers can withstand the constant rocking motion, allowing my students to rock as they learn; Rocking is a safe way for my students to cope with the big emotions they feel during the school day.
These rockers are also easy to clean and lightweight, students and staff can move them to create the optimal learning atmosphere.
Please help give my students the tools to assist them throughout the school day. This flexible seating option will enhance instruction.
