My students are 4th graders that have a range of disabilities that impact their academic, social, and emotional needs. We are part of a large urban high poverty district; My students are severely behind in the reading and writing abilities. They have experienced "academic failure" throughout their educational careers and began the year hesitant to even attempt to read or write. On average, my students are between 1 and 4 grade levels behind in their reading and writing skills. These tools will allow us to practice strategies that can help them become better readers and writers.
