Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 1st grade classroom is full of busy, eager learners. While all of my students come from diverse backgrounds, we learn about and embrace our ethnic and cultural differences to make our learning environment a richer place to engage their inquisitive minds.
Many of my students come from low-income backgrounds and qualify for free lunch; regardless of the challenges they face, they show up each and every day eager to learn!
My students are bright and inquisitive. I'm lucky to have such bright young minds with their millions of questions to answer daily. While they are challenged with learning deficits and attention deficits, they work hard to achieve results.
My Project
I have requested materials for my students to help build their foundational skills in reading and phonics and close those gaps in their reading once and for all! Some of my students have excelled and are reading at or above grade level. A good portion of my students still struggle with phonics and reading comprehension.
Students will be highly engaged by the learning centers from Lakeshore to increase their comprehension and the magic boards will encourage them to continue letter practice and formation (which some still need!).
I need these materials to make a final push to get my friends second grade ready! We are ready to Rock the Phonics Foundation!
