Rockin' Small Group Instruction
Help me give my students wobble stools to help increase our personal space and provide flexible seating opportunities.
In our classroom, we learn from each other and embrace our unique personalities. We root for each other and set goals to help us be our personal best!
Once the bell rings, the classroom becomes a complex and exciting environment where kids learn not only academics but how to be kind members of society.
We start the day in a crew circle, where get to know each other by sharing stories and checking in with one another. I love hearing their perspectives, allowing them to express themselves, and helping them regulate their emotions.
Every morning, I look forward to greeting my students at the door. As they enter, some are excited, some tired, but regardless of how they're feeling, they know they're safe and loved.
During small group instruction, I am able to effectively differentiate for my students. We have a wide range of needs in our classroom, but it is during small group where I feel like I can be fully present and provide the one-on-one time that so many of my students crave.
In a small group, I may be back-filling concepts that students are missing, helping them grapple with grade-level material, or providing learning extensions to those who are ready for more.
I present all students with grade-level material each day, but it is the small groups I pull throughout the day that enjoy the most. I appreciate the opportunity to address my students' specific needs in a manageable way. I know that it will only get better with a flexible seating opportunity at our small group table!
