Rockin' Recorders in Special Education

My Students

My students, particularly my students with autism, are enthusiastic and energetic about learning. They enjoy hands-on activities and always remember more when they are involved and engaged in a meaningful way.

Their faces light up when they find out we are going to use the instruments, try something new, or add a challenging aspect to something we have already done.

I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with so many students who love learning and love music. My goal is to give them as many opportunities to learn and develop their musicianship with quality instruments and materials.

My Project

These adaptive recorders will aid my students by giving them the support they need to be successful as we learn recorder in class. Some of my students have a difficult time with recorder technique at first. These recorders will alleviate some of this struggle.

My students with special needs will be able to be more independent through the learning process.

In addition, all of my students who struggle with holding a recorder or who have smaller hands will be able to utilize these adaptive recorders.

Adding these adaptive recorders to my music class will help students to be more confident in their music making abilities and will allow them to learn effectively.
