Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach on-level geometry in a Title I (economically disadvantaged) school in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metro area. My kiddos are great! Despite the hardships they face, they are resilient, intelligent, and eager to learn but lack the economic resources to adequately support their education. Most of my students cannot afford basic school supplies which prevents them from keeping up with their notes, homework, project, and class activities. In our class, we are a family of learners who always think critically/creatively, push the limits, and look for ways to expand horizons. I want them to be able to focus on their collaborative learning and growth, instead of worrying about finding yesterday's notes/homework.
Rocket Books will provide my students with technology that will enable them to organize, maintain, and centralize their class notes and activities.
This is especially important for impoverished students. Students from low SES families are often unable to stay on top of their notes because they lack the supplies to keep them organized. Having access the Rocket Books will eliminate the lost notes syndrome and allow students to take back control of their learning. The impact this small piece of technology could have on the future of our leaders!
My Project
I work with students who live at or below the poverty line. They are extremely economically disadvantaged. Many do not even have the money to buy binders or notebook paper, must less tablets or computers.
RocketBooks are resuable notebooks that the students will use to for class activities and notes.
Their digital notes are then uploaded into their individual cloud drive where they will always have access to them. No more lost notes or lost homework! These revolutionary notebooks will allow my students to be organized and efficient, as well as keep up with their studies. Rocketbook notebooks can be used over and over again, saving money on replacing paper.
Rocketbooks have innovated the world of notebooks with their line of products, and I want to use their newest Everlast Notebooks to integrate technology into my classroom and bring out the creativity and ingenuity of my students.
These amazing notebooks would allow us to create notes, graphs, charts, and projects in real time and then make them into posters with the students' own work to show off. It will also be a wonderful way of being able to share work with parents without worrying that students lost or forgot their assignments.
Best of all, while capturing their daily progress that measures academic growth, they will be using 100% green technology that has no impact on the environment and teaches sustainability and reusability of technology. These notebooks will be used and reused for many years to come!
