As a teacher and the K-5 math leader in a Title I elementary school, I oftentimes notice that our students are not exposed to science outside of the classroom. Over 70% of our campus receives free or reduced-price lunch and, oftentimes, we have students who are not capable of even having their parents supply their own school supplies.
Our school is located in an area that was hit and affected by Hurricane Harvey, but our students are actively coming to school eager to learn.
In my classroom, I work hard to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for learning and seek ways to make learning innovative. We have created a culture on our campus where our students actually look forward to the bus pulling up at their houses in the morning to bring them to school.
These kids will take advantage of any learning opportunity that is brought their way. Our motto at our campus is reach for the stars and our students do their best to reach beyond them.
We create interactive notebook pages daily but how do students keep up with them in the future? Introducing Rocketbook Wave! We will use these Rocketbooks and pens to create notes in the books and save them to our Google drive. From there, students can print their notes, save them to their phones, create posters, or even send them to their parents!
Why be basic when you can be innovative?
These supplies will help our students to step into the 21st century and have supplies and materials that will set us apart from the rest.
On the first day of getting our Rocketbooks, each student will design a page and upload it immediately to get them excited about taking notes.
We will use the Rocketbooks as class sets. Each year, we will erase the books and use them again for up to five school years!
