This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in the largest and poorest school district in the State of Indiana. Many of my students have limited English skills so having hands-on activities goes a long way towards student engagement. My goal is to inspire students to be more curious about the earth and the environment and steer them towards a career or life long interest in science through the use of mineral collections and an illuminated planetarium model. My students are special because even though they come from very humble backgrounds they are eager to learn so I hope these supplies will go a long way to achieving my goal.
