This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Did you ever wish you could be in a real band? My students can... with Rock Camp! With very few cultural escapes in the students' little town, Rock Camp provides an enjoyable haven for freedom of expression and a nice break from the academic struggles facing many teens.

The students live in a low-income, primarily agriculture-based area with very few cultural opportunities such as poetry readings and open mic events.

Many teenagers use music as an escape, a way to deal with their often-confusing adolescent years. Music is the best therapy for them.

My Project

I use my years of experience as a professional, touring musician so students can collaborate and actually perform rock songs as a group. Students learn guitar, bass, keyboard, percussion, and vocal parts, and then perform live... just like a real band. We need a sub woofer to add to the P.A. system so my students can properly ROCK! We need these professional quality speakers for the ultimate rock experience. The sound of these speakers will create a realistic, live band ambiance, which the students have never experienced.

Music is the best therapy for many students who are not excited about their normal academic days.

Rock Camp gives students a real reason and motivation to attend school. Within the band, students create lifelong friends and develop social skills, a better understanding of music, and an appreciation of art in any form. Rock Camp encourages, inspires, and drives adolescents to express themselves with no fear; this, is my opinion, is the ultimate goal of any teacher.
