This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Did you ever wish you could be in a real band? My students have that opportunity with Rock Camp!

The students live in a low-income, primarily agriculture-based area with very few cultural opportunities such as poetry readings and open mic events.

Many teenagers use music as an escape and a way to deal with their often-confusing adolescent years. Music is the best therapy for them.

My Project

I use my years of experience as a professional, touring musician so students can collaborate and actually perform rock songs as a group. Students learn guitar, bass, keyboard, percussion, and vocal parts, and then perform live just like a real band. We need this aural exciter to add to the P.A. system so my students can properly ROCK! An "aural exciter" is a piece of equipment used to prevent feedback and add equalization to the speakers. We need this professional piece of gear to drive the speakers for the ultimate rock experience. The sound of these speakers will then create a realistic, live band ambiance, which the students have never experienced.

With a nice aural exciter, the lead singers can gain self-confidence, as well as real-world experience, in front of live audiences.

Performing with a band builds self-esteem for these adolescents. This equipment will help reduce the fear of public speaking (and singing!), which is a real-world situation the students will face at some point in their lives.
