Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In 2023 the high school campus created a public vegetable garden located near Kodak's headquarters. Back by popular demand, the Freshman was choosing to continue this project for Better World Day for the next 4 years. Living in the middle of a food desert is an injustice can be very difficult. With that being said, our students will further their learning by not only planting fresh vegetables grown traditionally, but also hydroponics.

The vegetables that are cultivated will be shared with our local BBQ food "joint" JR Ribs and will be put with all takeout orders.

We will create brochures and posters to advertise at JR's Corner BBQ Joint. This will be an ongoing 4-year project for the class of 2027.

The Class of 2027 is very unique. We are striving for all students to graduate with 27 credits (4 more than the state requires), Civic Readiness certification and Seal of Bi-Literacy. This group of students are capable of health and wellness in two languages and are versed in speaking to the mission of our school. The materials requested will help us to help others. Thank you,
