Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are excited to enter the STEAM lab every day. Introducing STEAM in our rural community is opening doors for future engineers, scientists, mathematicians, artists, video game designers, photographers, programmers and many other careers. I work with smart students that enjoy working with their hands. We have weekly STEAM quests they must complete. We are striving to increase Reading Lexile scores in STEAM as well. They take on the quest like champs. They are our future. They can do anything.

I teach in a school where all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

I work with grades 1st through 5th.

My Project

The Makeblock robots will be used to teach coding in grades 3-5. These robots will be my students insight to coding or programming computers. This is one of the skills that will be introduced in STEAM class. Many of my students have asked about learning to program a robot. Their dreams will come true with this project.

This project will give our students the beginning skills needed for high-demand jobs.

Their futures will start in elementary school. The exposure will peek their interest in computer science, coding, and robotics. They will be prepared for our high school robotics team.
