Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in an urban district where they are struggling with losses from the COVID-19 pandemic and gun violence in almost every part of the city. During a year-long pandemic, they have stayed indoors because of a lack of safe places in their neighborhoods. Our school is unique in the district because for the first time all the ninth graders come together for a year before they move to high school with different learning communities.
Although the students travel to school through unsafe neighborhoods, they are eager to come to school to learn.
My Project
Technology is application that is engineered or created using applied science/math to solve a problem or societal one. Modern technology continues to revolutionize their worlds and daily life. On a macro-scale, the society may simply use the technology to survive and thrive, or it may help the society to evolve and attain higher levels of global progress by creating a greater level of societal efficiency.
With practicing building robots and programming them, my students will learn that the math and science are essential through building their own robots.
In addition, they will learn how to collaborate with peers to be successful whether they go off to college or into the workforce.
