Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The STEM program builds strong minds by creating challenging tasks that will prepare students for college as well as the workforce. Our students are mainly from McAllen, Texas, but some students are from other parts of the United States and Mexico.
These students strive for excellence in every way.
The focus and determination to complete tasks and projects at an advanced level have made me proud to be apart of this community. This school year, we plan to take things a step further and have each of the classes participate in the First Tech Challenge robotics competition.
My Project
This coming school year all of my classes will take part in the First Tech Challenge robotics competition, which will allow students to gain the skills needed to prepare them for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. These students will learn about robotics design, engineering design, problem-solving, and programming in Java. We would like to be competitive with other veteran teams that have many resources and funds that allow them to build awesome robots. Having a 3D printer is a tool that most veteran teams have. Students will learn how to create robot parts on the computer using Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD. These design skills will be useful as these students prepare for college.
My overall goal is to show my students that STEM careers are where the future is going and they will be able to pave the way for their future through my courses.
Having access to the First Scholarships will help allow my students to achieve their career goals.
