My students need a high end laptop to help us in working on 3D Robotics Modeling using industrial Engineering software like PTC Creo or AutoDesk Inventor.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds from your average families to others that are far below the poverty line. Even some of our students come from situations where they lived in homeless shelters at some point in their lives.
Our students have a hunger to learn, to put in the hours, and to succeed like no one else before them.
Our team was founded in 2003 and has an outstanding record winning awards at events every year. In 2010, our team became the first team in South Carolina history to win an International robotics competition by winning the FIRST Tech Challenge HOTSHOT World Championship. Our team competed against the best 200 teams from across the world out of the thousands of teams that all competed for a spot at the Championship. In addition, our teams have won 5 state championships, made it to the playoff rounds at competitions 14 out of 15 years, and 14 of our teams have competed at the World Championship.
My Project
My students need a high end laptop to help us in working on 3D Robotics Modeling using industrial Engineering software like PTC Creo or AutoDesk Inventor. This hardware would make a world of difference in helping our students learn how to use engineering software to design and build our competition robots. We could take the time to use the software to help us not only model the robots, but also test them virtually so that we can teach the students the value of digital stress analysis.
We currently are very limited in the computers that we have access to and this donation could help inspire one of our students to become the next big design engineers at any number of different companies.
We have access to mentors for our program that can teach all sorts of cool techniques if we had access to the hardware we needed!
