Over 65% of our student population receives free or reduced-price lunch. Inspiring these students to overcome their economic/social handicaps and succeed in the engineering process is truly a worthy endeavor.
Our First Robotics Competition team designs and builds articulated robots!
We have a wide range of students on our FRC Robotics team from Freshmen to Seniors. Our students work numerous hours after school to design and build robots for an annual international competition. They also organize an annual blood drive for the local community.
My Project
My students are working hard to integrate vision recognition and target acquisition on their robots. The PixyCam is used to acquire a target which the student's programs then utilize to drive and steer the robot. The PLA filament is used to print not only the mounting brackets for the cameras but also the various parts of the robot from wheel hubs to actual gears. With the purchase of the cameras, my students will be able to build not only a competition robot, but also a practice robot which the students can use to further develop autonomous driving routines. This project truly incorporates all of the ingredients of STEM into the curriculum.
