My Students

We are a small rural high school. We are a Title I school with 100% Free Reduced Lunch Program. Currently in South Carolina approximately 20% of high school students will earn an associate or baccalaureate degree. This is considerably less than the US average.

My students are committed to learning robotics and are excited to attend the regional event this spring.

They want to improve their standing from last year. They are encouraging other students to participate and look forward to working with mentors in engineering fields. In addition, the team visits other schools and events to promote robotics.

My Project

We are gearing up for the FRC Palmetto Regional Event in February and we lost our drill master (he graduated) and he took his tools with him! Good for him but, bad for us. Last year we had to drill quite a bit to assemble the robot and lessen the weight with copious drilling of the frame. Haha. Our robot this year will probably need the same.

This hands-on project of STEM skills along with teamwork and professional mentors, provides our students with real world experience in a competitive situation.

FIRST robotics is a wonderful outlet for my students to thrive.
