This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Riverside Girls Lacrosse is a young team with a group of determined young ladies that prior to attending our interest meeting, had no idea, what the sport of Lacrosse was, as this is not a sport that they have been exposed to. I am hoping that playing this sport will open a new world of opportunities for these young ladies. The issue is that the current equipment is old and falling apart. Riverside High School is a Title 1 school based on the percentage of students that receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is made up of 72% African American, 13.1% Caucasian, and 9.6% Hispanic students. I am hoping that Donors Choose will be able to help us out with equipment so that our young ladies can continue to learn this sport, have opportunities to earn scholarships to play in college, and play the game safely.
